The agreement on audiovisual co-production between Canada and Ukraine entered into force on January 1, 2021.

“From now on, Ukrainian and Canadian producers can apply for budget support, tax benefits and discounts for co-production of audiovisual works in both countries,” the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine reports.

“The agreement opens up excellent opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. At the same time, it is also important to work on promoting Ukraine internationally. And this work is ahead,” said Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Olexandr Tkachenko.

Canada is a recognized leader in co-productions, with about 60 international projects annually.

“From now on, Canadian and Ukrainian producers can make great films together using all the opportunities that both countries have,” said Larissa Galadza, Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine.

As noted by the President and CEO of the Canadian Association of Media Producers Reynolds Mastin, the agreement will become a basis for fruitful cooperation.

In turn, the executive director of the Ukrainian Association of Cinematographers Victoria Yarmoshchuk said that Ukraine has highly qualified specialists, who have creative ideas and a very high level of training.
