Canada welcomes the rapprochement between Ukraine and NATO and continues to support Ukraine’s sovereignty, Foreign Minister of Canada François-Philippe Champagne has said.

“Congratulations to Ukraine for becoming a NATO Enhanced Opportunities Partner! Canada remains unwavering in its support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the minister wrote on his Twitter account.

He added that “he is looking forward to further deepening Canada-Ukraine collaboration.”

On June 12, the North Atlantic Council recognized Ukraine as an Enhanced Opportunities Partner. This status is part of NATO’s Partnership Interoperability Initiative, which aims to maintain and deepen cooperation between Allies and partners that have made significant contributions to NATO-led operations and missions.
