“The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has brought a criminal case against Oleg Yemelyanov, the coordinator of staff of Navalny in Kazan, on evasion of military service,” Pavel Chikov, head of the Agora human rights group, said.

Citizens of Kazan hosted the only state-approved rally under the conditions of coronavirus restrictions “against detentions and repressions and changes in election legislation to the State Duma of the Russian Federation” the day before.

Investigators came to the flat of Oleg Yemelyanov to carry out a search on his premises on the morning of February 15. The corresponding ruling was published on Twitter. It indicated that the criminal case had been opened on January 22, on the eve of the all-Russian action in support of Navalny.

The ruling says that the investigative actions are being taken within the investigation of a criminal case on evasion of military service.

“The search is underway at the moment, nothing is being confiscated, the investigators are only writing something. I have a military identity card, ” Yemelyanov said.

It seems that the Russian authorities are trying to suppress the protest movement in the country by all available means.
