The United States promises to continue economic and military assistance to Ukraine, the US State Department said in a statement following a telephone conversation between Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

“The secretary noted Ukraine’s strong bipartisan support and the priorities that for the United States are Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. He pledged continued robust U.S. economic and military assistance to Ukraine,” the statement said.

Blinken also stressed the importance of Ukraine’s continued progress in fighting corruption and implementing the rule of law and economic reforms that will strengthen Ukrainian institutions.

“Secretary and Foreign Secretary Kuleba also discussed Ukraine’s continued efforts to combat COVID-19 and achieve a diplomatic solution to Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine and Crimea,” the State Department said.

For his part, Kuleba said that during the conversation, the sides confirmed the importance of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States and agreed to make it more ambitious.
