The first days of vaccination against coronavirus in Poland were marked by a scandal because several famous people received the vaccine out of order. This was reported by TVN24.
The vaccination campaign against COVID-19 has been running in Poland since 27 December. The first to be vaccinated – at stage zero – are medics and health workers. However, people outside this group have been vaccinated in recent days.
Among others, actors Kristina Janda, Maria Severin and Viktor Zborowski, as well as former Deputy Prime Minister and current MEP Leszek Miller admitted receiving the first shot of the vaccine.
It remains unclear why this happened and whether these people met the vaccination criteria. The Warsaw Medical University (WUM) said this week that regardless of the vaccines, which are exclusively for medical workers, it had received several hundred doses from the state office of material reserves, which were to be used up by the end of the year.
“The information in the media about famous people, including people from the world of culture and politics, being vaccinated out of turn is a real scandal,” Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki said.
Health Minister Adam Niedzielski announced that the WUM will be examined on Monday for vaccine distribution, and the university also says it wants to investigate the matter.
