The Federal Service for Supervision of Communication, Information Technology and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, also known as Roskomnadzor, considered it “rudeness”.

US video hosting YouTube blocked videos, in which the anthem of Russia was played, because of copyright infringement. The press service of Roskomnadzor informed the public about it.

In this regard, the regulator sent a request to Google LLC to remove restrictions on the publication of materials, containing the Russian anthem.

“The blocking of the anthem of the Russian Federation by the YouTube platform is open and unacceptable rudeness towards all citizens of our country,” the message says.

The press service of the department did not specify what kind of video they were talking about.

Roskomnadzor added that the anthem, like other state symbols, was not subject to copyright.

“We would like to draw the attention of Russian channel owners, posting their content on this platform, to the feasibility of switching to Russian video hosting sites,” Roskomnadzor concluded.
